I agree with splitting the return, maybe not for the same reasons as stated above though. My hydor has been going strong for over a year now with zero issues. On a tank that size, I would run at least two canisters, probably two fluval fx5's. One hydor on one side of each filters split and reduced return. So, four returns and two intakes. I run a hydor on my fx5, so if you go with this method, feel free to ask me questions.
