eheim 2078/2080 filter compatibility with original Cerges

I am thinking about upgrading my filter from an eheim 2217 to an eheim 2078/2080, but I'm a little worried that the new filter will be too powerful for my current Cerges reactor. The cerges reactor I have is the made to the same specs as original instructions with no modifications. If I had to build a new cerges reactor, I would be more reluctant to purchase a new filter... Does anybody have experience using a non-modified cerges reactor with an eheim 2078/2080 and can comment on if the flow is too much for the reactor?

You could always just run both filters. Convert the old one to bio only. Leave your react in place.

I tried one with a 2076 set on maximum flow and it blew out a lot of bubbles.

A simple bypass with a valve on the line feeding the reactor would solve any potential 'flow' issues if the filter is too powerful.
