Paintball Tank Dropped

I returned home yesterday to my new 20oz paintball tank shipped from Amazon
I just took it out to a local paintball place to have it filled and the guy drops it on his way back to me from the big tank (a whole 5 feet)
I was standing behind the counter here, which was solid wood and I couldn't see anything waist down and it looked like it was dropped strait down, he went for it quick, but it did fall and hit the ground. I never thought anything of it since it only hit once, and he had it back in his hand and was dusting it off, and again, it looked like it had fallen vertically down, bottom first.

So, I get home and I'm now about to hook it up to my aquateck regulator and I see a ding on the seal on the top now!!
This of course being my own fault for not checking it before I left the place

My question is, will this prevent the regulator from making a good seal on the tank... if so, other than taking it to them and bitching about it, what else could I try doing?

Even if we tell you yes, wouldn't you want to replace that?

You can replace the top, I think it 10 bucks. Not a huge amount so you're good. Not worth it to take chances like that. Cylinders at least have a shut off valve, those paintballs have the pins and that bump doesn't look too good.

You can't try anything. Just tell them what they did wrong and have them replace it.

Take it back to the shop and tell the manager you want a new valve or a new tank! I manage a PB Pro Shop and this kind of thing is completely unacceptable. This idiot should have never been holding the tank upside down. The valve is brass and if you try to bend it back that bent piece WILL break off. To answer your question, yes, the o-ring will probably seal. But as time goes by and with every time you screw/unscrew the tank, the crack will get weaker and weaker. In a year or two it will crack off and you'll likely be SOL. I sell 20oz tanks to aquarists for $20 filled. So it's no big deal for them to replace a $6 valve. Next you'll tell me they charged you for the fill! Lol! PM me if you have trouble with them.

Jes

Definitely get that replaced.

If they give you grief just ask them if they would use that tank and if they say yes, then smile and ask to trade them for one that isn't damaged so they can use the damaged one.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Down side is they were closing when I left, but I've called them and left a short message to call me back.
They are only open on weekends, probably due to the fact its an actual PB field, and they don't have an office, other than the onsite trailer there. So I have to wait till Saturday

Not unusual. Most fields are open only on the weekends. Please let me know how it goes. Worse comes to worse, I can send you a replacement valve.

There is no need to replace the tank just unscrew the burst disk, take the valve off and replace it or have the shop replace it, it only costs 5-10 dollars. I have about 20 tanks (one being about as tall as I am so I can fill my tanks on my own) and I regularly replace valves once they get old or replace them with built in on/off valves.
