I have a finnex 50-watt. From all the hype I had high expectations. It doesn't totally live up to my expectations.

Like most inexpensive heaters it's not spot on accurate and it doesn't keep a totally stable temp in my 10 gallon, but I know my 10 gallon is hard to keep stable.

I do like the size as it is smaller than most. I do like the fact that the controller is outside of the tank. It looks better that most heaters in the aquarium.

It does have an extrememly short cord between the controller and the plug.

I use Finnex Titanium heaters in all my tanks and they're AWESOME!
Never had one failed me yet nor over heat since there is an auto shut off for over heating.

thanks for the replies. from other searches i heard it the other way around. looking for a heater for my 12 gallon long. cant use a hydor inline heater because my hoses are so short and id have to remove the disconnects if i did. my ebo jager is way to big to look decent inside the tank. thinking i might go with a digital finnex titanium one.

I have a finnex 50-watt in my 10g and I like the way it looks. I love the external thermostat. I don't love that I have to program it about 4 degrees higher than I want it to heat my tank to. Yesterday my tank also randomly heated to 80 degrees, no good at all for my celestial pearl danios and red cherry shrimp. I've had the heater set to 80 since I got it and it kept the temp at 74-75 but all of a sudden it's up to 80. I've had the heater off since then and now it's down to 76. The temperature in my house has been the same, so I don't know what's up. Did it randomly re-calibrate itself to work at the set temperature? I dunno.

If it were $5 cheaper for the 50-watt I would say yes immediately buy it, because it does (or did? I don't know!) keep the temp consistent better than the Hydor THEO heater I tried first did.
