Now I begin my planted endeavor
So, I have finally obtained a canister filter for my Amazon 29. I recieved a fluval 203 for free. I currently have it running in my tank with a large mature sponge filter and a mature HOB w/ bio-wheel. I am going to leave all three filters running until the media in my canister cultures then I am going to put a powerhead on my sponge filter (mature sponge filters are worth their weight in gold) and remove the penguin. Now, does anyone have any input on this canister filter I have? I am using a coarse sponge media in it, (was in it when I got it) ketapeat, and macaroni looking media. I want to inject co2 once my surface agitation is gone (t minus one month). Once I have no surface agitation in my tank how do I know if my plants are supplying sufficient oxygen to my tank? What advice do you guys have to avoid any potential nightmares? Can i remove the HOB now w/ the mature sponge handling the bio-load? the sponge is for tanks up to 125gal.
