The Eheim 2217 for a 55 gallon tank?

Hi, I need you opinions, Im getting a 55 gallon tank and I think I need a canister filter for good results. It will be planted with low light plants and have guppies with nice fins in it. Is this filter too powerful. I have heard its outflow isnt overpowering, thanks.

It's pretty powerful on a 55, at least by my standards. Depends on what kind of output you use, of course. I have an Eheim spray bar that has three segments, so I angle the outputs three different ways to reduce the flow.

I think the Eheim 2217 would be fine for a 55 gallon aquarium.

You can always find ways to reduce the output (drill larger holes into the spray bar, use something to deflect the output, etc).

Lol. I'm running one on a 29g high tech tank and still need a power head. The spray bar IS angled upward to add O2 and there is a reactor inline but still.

I have a 2217 on my 55 and it will be just fine for what you want to do. You can always find ways to adjust flow and output.

When I had my 55 gal, that's the filter I had and it worked great. No complaints!
