Can I use a overflow box with a canister filter?

I was wondering if you can use one of those HOB overflow boxes (like an eshopps) with a canister filter?

Only if you have a way to keep water level high enough. If there is too much water evaporated then water won't go into the box and the pump will run dry and be ruined. Wouldn't a skimmer made for a canister filter be smaller anyway?

Like Kathyy said you might run into a Dry-Out and ruined your canister filter or cause a fire.

You could get an auto top off system To keep you water level constant.
