Question about cleaning lily pipes

Right now I have my lily pipes going straight into vinyl tubing which in turn goes into my fluval tubing. This isn't a problem for the outlet as I can just get a pipe cleaner in there but the inlet has to be disconnected from the tubing before it can be cleaned.

The connection is so tight that I have to cut the tubing off the pipe, which is annoying and eventually I'll run out of tube. Is there a trick to getting the tube off or is there a way to rig some sort of disconnect between them?

This might sound too obvious, but... Using slightly larger diameter tubing would help facilitate the removal.

Push the tubing up like you're trying to push it on to the pipe further. This will break the seal. Should pull right off after that.

I'll give that a try, thanks.
