Does anyone have experience with acrylic stands ? I am looking at buying a 90 gal acrylic tank with acrylic stand and canopy , but I am wary of the stand holding a half a ton at least .
Man do I feel stupid....that is probably exactly what it is . I can't tell from the pics he has posted . I will look at before buying . I have never seen an acrylic stand so I didn't have a clue...lol
I could have been easily fooled , too! Reading the post I never questioned it being full acrylic.
But then it does sound more reasonable that somebody might describe a painted wood stand as it could have what might be called acrylic paint.
If you've not seen it, this could be a really eye opening artsie/crafty paint job???
Way back in the day, when Sea Clear was still in Cypress (are they around anywhere?), I sold Sea Clear at the pet store I worked at. they had acrylic stands. They were surprisingly sturdy. So I think it would have to be a case by case basis. If the stand is new it's most likely fine. I would worry about UV degredation for a used stand if they used cheap acrylic when manufacturing them.
