Hey guys! Okay so I'm setting up some new shrimp tanks for CRS I'm using ADA 45P's (10gallon) and I need to know which Eheim I should run in them. I know a lot of you tend to run Eheim 2213 in smaller tanks but I've also heard that the 2213 is too strong for small tanks. I'm almost positive that the 2211 will work perfectly fine but I'm concerned that I'll kick myself in the ass if it turns out to be not enough flow or that I'll lose more media space than I have to. ANYWAY I'm rambling at this point. Anyone that has any info or advice on this topic I'd appreciate it thanks!
I use the 2211 on 10 and 20 gallon tanks. IMO, plenty good for a 10. But if you think you may go to a bigger tank some day, the 2213 will give you some room to grow.
2211. Got 4 20longs running them . Plenty of circulation . Might have to throttle them down some for a 10 , especially if you're planning for a shrimp tank .
use a eheim 2213 and put a homemade pipe inline with a heater or a reactor and it will be like a 2211, just remember with the eheims if there is to much flow you can always add stuff inline vs to little flow you will be kicking yourself later on.
Thanks for all the info guys! What is everyone's opinion on using the taps to reduce flow? I've heard some people in the past talk about it. Do you do it to both valves or just one? Or does this end up wearing out the canister motor
jrill is correct only do it to just eh output valve, and on the eheim classics make sure you have it in a bucket or the clips are sealing the top very wel.l as i have see a few of them leak water from the top seal due to the valves being closed to much and building to much pressure
