best substrate for shrimp?

im considering using ada amazonia but i want to know if any of the special shrimp substrates like fluval stratum are just as good. can anyone give me some input?

im also looking for a substrate that will lower my ph

Both these substrates buffer to slightly acidic pH from what I see in my tanks. I get 6.4 to 6.8 using API pH test drops (lower pH in the tank with big driftwood).
I have used both, seems to perform the same in the low tech set-ups that I have.

how does stratum fare with plants? i hear stuff of it letting plants float easily

Yes, it is very light, like Aquasoil, and stems are sometimes tricky to anchor. I found that if you don't strip the bottom leaves it helps to anchor them (the bottom leaves get buried and the vertical stem does not slip off).

based on the price, i see theyre similar so ill probably go with ADA as its known the be one of the top substrates for plants. thanks!

I put black diamond blasting sand in my shrimp 55. I pulled some plants out of other tanks and stuck them in the shrimp tank. I expected very little for many reasons; new set up, sand substrate etc.... I put some tabs down on the plants I wanted to see thrive (foreground cover) but everything is growing well.....not growing like crazy, but growing well.

North Dakota
125 Co2 planted tank
72 bow, mystery snails and angels
55 planted
55 shrimp tank, crs and rc
29 mated angels
40 long, grow out
40 breeder- just set up, use unknown
10- nursery
10- quarantine
