Average go price for orange tigers

I went out today and decided I would grab some nice shrimp. So I got some low grade (no solid black lines) orange tigers. I was wondering how much people charge for these usually and if I got ripped off or not. I paid around 9 each

yeah that is a bit high for low grade tiger shrimp. but then again your always going to pay at least double the going rate of online shrimp when you get at a local shop. i see normal tiger shrimp online for a couple bucks each to about 5 each

That's what I had figured. I mean there beautiful shrimp. It's just that the black is broken up on the sides. I never seen ornate tigers before so I thought it would be something new. Can orange tigers. Orange eye blonde tigers. And crs or CBS breed?

its possible but i think most of the time they are a forced breeding to get tibee shrimp. tibee is any kind of tiger crossed with any kind of crystal shrimp.

Yeah I knew the tiger and crystal but didn't know if it was any of either that would create a tibee

When you say "orange" tiger, do you mean tangerine tiger - TT? OR orange eyed tiger? Just making sure we're talking about the same critters.

tt will breed with anything they can get a hold of. they are agressive breeders. im sure some have probably crossed oebt with crystals just not sure of the out come cause it takes a few generations to come up with good looking shrimp. yes as far as i know any tiger well im not sure tt's count cause they are not a true tiger, but any color tiger crossed with any crystal red or black is a tibee

I've always called TT x CRS= pseudo TiBs.

That's the same question I have though. Are they TT or Orange Tigers? I thought the name was used interchangeably for deep orange TT. (?)

RAOK Club and BBRR Club! My thinking has been invert-ed!

I find some TTs sold online washed out, so I got some from Germany directly in a group buy with my friends to see if I get something different.

The colour was very deep orange but unfortunately they have lost some of the colour intensity after a while in my tank. I know my tank water is much softer than their origin so I will try to up the GH to see if it makes a difference.

Here is one of mine from Germany. I would think they will be sold for about the price you paid for or a bit more if available retail.

I'm just trying to figure out if the OP is referring to TTs or orange eyed tigers. I guess I've not seen TTs referred to as orange tigers before......so I'm the one that's confused.

Beautiful TT by the way Randyl!! I want some!!!!!

I believe they aren't considered "real" tigers because they are a different species. TT/Orange Tigers are Caridina serrata. Whereas, CRS, CBS and the other tigers are all Caridina cantonensis. They can still interbreed with C. cantonensis though and someone else will have to chime in, but I assume the hybrid offspring are sterile.

Looking forward to pics of your new guys!!

See I'm no good with scientific names unless I write them down. There are too many for me to remember with all the shrimp. Plants. And fish. So I like common names. But it's good to know that they aren't the same spieces as tigers. But that they can cross
