good call thanks. That's why i was using tap but i do not think there is much in it. My api test showed 6 but that is as low as it goes, will need to invest in something that goes lower. Any advise for a low range ph test?
Yes a lot of people use tap while cycling to help kill some of the snstrate's buffering. My tap is pretty darn pure and has no kh, so I added 1/8th tsp baking soda last night. It should have raised it 1degree but I have a feeling the AS will have ate it all up when i test tonight. This is part of the reason daily water changes are done for the first couple weeks. Worst comes to worst i can just add some crushed coral or seiryu to help slow it down.
How is the tank? Do you have any updates for us?? I bought some ADA AS Africana a while back that I completely forgot about so I plan on using for a new setup. I want to start a 20L and breed TBs but I'm kinda worried that buffering capabilities of the AS will drop my ph down too low. I tried doing a search for post with people's experience using Africana breeding TBs but I'm coming up pretty empty handed.
aplomado plants will hold it, glosso to be exact. I've had much much much steeper slopes not go anywhere with hc. It is a ton of matrix underneath that makes up most of the slope. Hope that answers your question.
