BBRR Group project interest?

So in my searching, I've come to the conclusion that very nice Blue Bodied Red Rilis are extremely rare. (Blue Body, Red Head/Tail) So, I'm about to embark on a project to create some.

There are a lot of creative people here who enjoy the social aspect of shrimping, and have fun keeping shrimp. Which leads me to ask this question:

Is there any interest in becoming a "member" of a small club where we all embark on creating a gorgeous deep blue bodied red rili?

Everyone would set up their own tank (size doesn't matter- nano to whatever), and we all share theories, tips, pictures and updates on how we are doing with the breeding?

This thread is just gauging interest before setting up a BBRR Club thread. If there is no interest, it won't go any further than this inquiry. If there is, then I'll set up the Club thread and we could all have a member number, etc.

Anyone?

First of all, may I ask how blue we're talking about? For example, the following pic is from an online store, if your goal is 10, what does this one get?

PS: I have seen the shrimps in pic personally, their quality is pretty close to the pic.

Now THAT is amazing if you said the pic is close to reality. The shrimp I have sen in person (and have bred) are very light sky blue.

Oddly I find this color combo weird. Like a candy I use to have when I was a child lol.

But good for you for trying new projects!

My favorite rili is still the dark blue head and tail with a blue body

I have a tank of Blue Rili that vary from almost as nice or as nice as the one pictured above to all blue with no red head or body. I was thinking of separating them out from the 40gal tank they are in now into a 10 gallon tank to see if I can selectively breed them a little better.

I would be up for joining a club.

Like this? My dream blue throw a lot of these and I will have a separate line for them. Most have more black coverage on the head and tail than this one in the pic but I don't have those in pictures online yet.

PS: One more picture here. They are more blue in person, they are in the shade and iphone can't take good pics all the time.

I was starting something like this but started having quite a few die offs, everyone is transferred to my 10 gallon tiny (CPD/pygmy Cory) community until I can redo the old tank, I'm suspecting the substrate at this point.

Aluka, most of the carbons that have the black, actually have thick blue pigment to make them look black. When they have a light "fire" pigment it is blue. This would be using different genetics to attempt achieving the same phenotype goal as your Blue Bodied Blue Head/Tail Rili.

I believe if you can see it, you can breed for it. heh However to make it work, I think you would have to breed "fire" with "fire" to keep the lower saturation of pigment and cull heavily. I'm getting some of these coming from my Ink Blot project. If you want to try some selective breeding with them for a new strain, throw me a pm.

Hey It's been a while frankenstein. The BBRR project looks interesting, the ink blots look great btw. Is this a fresh start or do you have a few BBRRish type shrimp roaming around?

Heyya Ren.

None of good quality roaming. So, I figured I'd start from near ground zero and maybe start a group if anyone else wants to try their theories, and breed shrimp as well. The major shrimping breeders are so closed mouthed, I figure besides fun, perhaps new ideas could be expressed forth. Maybe some trading later on, for new blood, etc.

However, all I'm seeking right now are people who are willing to be an active part of a small membership and share with each other along the way.
