do shrimp graze on green spot algae

I'm talking about the algae that you have to scrape off with a razor. I see them eating the algae when scraped off but I was wondering can they eat it off the glass. I figure I might just leave the back glass covered in it if they do pick at it.

Oh I don't mind it still being there. Just don't want to limit their food source

As long as the tank is well cycled and has light, they will generally never starve. Unless you have thousands.

How I feel about non-planted aquariums.

i find green spot almost a necessity when the shrimplets are born. Its usually beneficial to have in a shrimp tank. If it gets a bit thick, i generally clean the front glass of the tank while leaving the sides and rear as is. G/L!
