I call them Gyraulus, but that is a guess really, based on looking at online pics. Young ramshorns are wide and vertical; these guys are thin, lie horizontally, and don't get bigger than match-heads. Honestly, I don't think there is such a thing as a bad snail. I have at least 6 species in my tanks and I have never seen any of them pick on live healthy plants. I love them all! As does my new puffer, which I recently acquired to relieve me of TOO many snails...not that they ever do damage, they just get unsightly when they number in the 100s!
