Don't mind the pictures or mess. But I finally got my stand anchored to the wall. And a finnex fugeray 2 16" on the way arriving on Wednesday! Also, if there is no ammonia spike with the azoo plant bed, I'll be ordering that, I might order it just because and let it soak in a bucket with air bubbler and water changes until the ammonia spike is over. Thoughts

Holy hell Ray 2 for such a small tank. I hope you're doing CO2 for it. That light you had there is plenty bright enough.

I bought Azoo yesterday pour it in my tank. Scape it, then pour old water up to the level of soil with floss filter in case any worm get in. And start putting in plants. After that pour in the rest and wait couple hours for things to settle and introduce live stocks.

Aside from what everyone has been saying about the lighting. There right as the bulb is only 4 inches long and sits more to the right hand side of the tank, and noticing my plants from the left are growing to the right I figured a new light was in order. It's an led light. I dose ferts, as it is, at a quarter dose for this tank because of my shrimp. And I dose liquid co2 at the same amount, quarter dose, because I have gassed my amano shrimp before. And I'm not sure what size diy co2 or a recipe for a 5 gallon I could use.

that might be a to high maybe not. there are always ways to lower the amount of light if you need to...
add floating plants
raise the light higher
put a screen between the light and tank
or add pressurized co2 as excel is not as effective

i have a 33g long with 2 t5ho on it with no co2 and no algae. just have a lot of floating plants and algae eating fish/inverts. im sure you can make it work, i always preferred to high of light then not enough.

8g Fluval 1M CT Betta

33g long cherry shrimp, 8 pygmy corys, 5 ottos

Yeah I have quite a bit of floating plants in my tank right now. Salvinia, frogbit, duck weed and I'm getting some rrf in the mail this week. S lighting won't a problem. In my 55 I use diy and dose liquid co2 and my plants are thriving.

I plant on getting a custom piece of glass for my tank to keep less evaporation.

From a LFS that closed years ago.

I have these also:

I got couple more exotic one but too lazy to take pic. Most of my driftwood only fit 10g and up to 55g. Smaller won't fit.

The long one? That one used to be in my 55g and it take over 3/4 of the tank length.

Ok so a re cap on my tank. ( I don't know how to move this to tank journals)

I tore down my 5.5 completely, it was to small and I needed a bigger tank, everyone was right on bigger tank easier params etc. and I knew it as well. But here is my ten gallon now

But I have a question. Why would my shrimp not be berried or even saddled? My water params are ph6.4 gh 3-4 kh1-2 ammonia nitrite and nitrate at 0.
I do have a few males in the tank, I'm talking about my rcs, I lost my blue diomands.
And I just got blue bees, so I have yet to wait for berries. But why wouldn't my rcs be saddled? I find that kinda odd I thought they are always saddled and wait for a male to come along when that happens.

If they aren't saddled they certainly won't be berried. Saddled HAS TO HAPPEN BEFORE BERRIEs

Lack of saddle could mean not mature enough, not enough protein in their diet, or off season. Just a few reasons anyway

Hmmm. So a little more protein or its off season. I ask because most of my shrimp are 3/4 to almost two inches. Rcs at least. And about a month in a half ago I had saddles. No berries though. Now nada, I have only been feeding them jakes food. Until now I just made some. And before I fed them jakes and once every two weeks a carnivore pellet.
