Feeding shrimp milkweed

So I see a bunch of people feeding their shrimp various leaves from plants and I was wondering if anybody has tried Mexican milkweed.

I have a big one growing out of my tank I need to prune all the time. Before I inadvertently kill all my shrimp anybody tried this before?

So I can't say I've tried this myself, but as far as I'm aware the sap of Mexican milkweed is poisonous (that's why monarch caterpillars eat it---they isolate the toxin to become poisonous in adulthood). I would think that may have an adverse affect on shrimp.

yeah, like the previous comment says, i wouldn't, since milkweed sap is toxic to a lot of things. it might also diffuse into the water if you dropped a leaf in the tank and then it could potentially harm or kill more than just the shrimp that ate it.

I don't think its a good idea either that stuff is very toxic and one would assume it would be to shrimp.
