How do you insure a shrimp package? I know some people say they get their insurance refund but how?

Ps sorry to hijack!

The post office offers no insurance if they show up dead just if they lose or damage the package. Doa guarantee is just the seller offering to replace it or give credit towards the next order.

In the 12x7 bags I pack as many as 40 in them with never a problem. In the 5x8 25 if juvi and pee wee. Or I do just 20 juvi sub adults. I also add a little purigen in all shipments. Just a little goes a long way in a breather bag. I have shipped shrimp when it was 110 out because the buyer insisted had him buy 3 cold packs and shipped hybrids he bought they showed up just fine and he said the ice packs were still semi cold. Shipped sat he got them Monday

My fist experience shipping my first 10 shipments I used poly bags and had horrible luck with them. Double bagged or single. I will never use them again. Plus I have had one seller send my shrimp in poly bags and 15 or 40 were doa. After that never a poly just breather bags. The ice brick ice packs I use now seem to last 48-56 hours

Sorry for the horribly late reply but thank you to everyone who answered and pitched in with their experiences!

I've been selling my shrimp on aquabid and so far every shrimp has arrived alive and well!

I've sent one package express and the other two packages by priority USPS.

For anyone else's reference, I used small kordon breather bags (and only put five shrimp in each). I also used styrofoam to line the boxes (I recycled styrofoam from a Keurig coffeemaker). Then I added old newspaper to pack it tight to prevent the bags from shifting.

So far so good!

Yup. No need to leave space at the top for oxygen with kordon breather bags!

+1 In fact, it's detrimental. It stops the O2/CO2 exchange inside the breather bag. Another plus is that there's no sloshing.

RAOK Club and BBRR Club! My thinking has been invert-ed!
