Sulawesi Granite Shrimp

Anyone hear of Sulawesi Granite shrimp? I can only find one photo of them, and I'm not convinced the name wasn't made up by a seller. (?)

I just bought 20 of these extremely rare shrimp and will be trying to breed them. If anyone has any information on scientific name or such, please share!

Of course, it is possible these have yet to be logged. In which case it is even more important for me to try to breed these so they don't get lost in the Sulawesi shuffle.

I have two tanks of them. I got them from the same guy. He doesn't know for sure what they are, and neither do I.

They came from Aristocratama in Indonesia mixed in a bag of White Orchid shrimp. The only shrimp that I see on Aristocratama that looks like them is Caridina lanceolata, so that is what I have been calling them. Did he say where he found the picture?

Here are some pictures of mine:

As you can see, they can be all sorts of different colors. The males have no color, though.

They are thriving under the same conditions that I use for my Cardinals.

Do you find they change colors at all?

Or are they born their respective color?

Here's their image of Lanceolata. Are you sure this is the sp you meant? Looks very different to me than what you and I have. (?)

Also here's another image of Lanceolate from a different source http://nanocaridina.weebly.com/carid...nceolata.html:

Yes, that's the one. When you get yours you will see that some of the females also look like that, usually before they are full adult size. There is another picture on the Aristocratama site that shows one with the lime green eggs like they get.

Like I said, I'm not sure, but if that isn't the one, I'll bet it is a very closely related species.

Caridina Sarasinorum is what Aristocratama calls the "Sulawesi Granite Shrimp."

Maybe that is what they are, although a second picture of saranisorum on their site doesn't really look that much like the shrimp we have.

This website has a picture of C. saranisorum about halfway down the page as well.

Here's a website in French about C. Saranisorum. (I had Google translate it for me.)
