wicked exciting Soothing. That is how I feel about my "zebra" shrimp. I am really excited to try breeding them and see where is goes from there since noone even here among experts seem to know what they are.

Color changing shrimp though...that is way cool.

Without a doubt, those photos seem to look like the shrimp photos of the ones I am receiving. So, Caridina sarasinorum it is!

Awesome you found the sci name! Thank you!

I love this sentence: "Sarasinorum is the Caridina shrimp that time is almost never imported for the aquarium trade. " That would explain why I haven't seen them around.

I just won an auction for 20 of these shrimps. Would you guys shine some lights this way?

I have a tank set up similar to one of my African Cichlids tanks with crush coral mix with regular light brown substrate. I also move from my cichlid tank a couple large pieces of coral to maintain the PH.

My tap water parameter is: PH=7.2-7.5 GH=6 KH=2 TDS=130-150

Will they be alright to live in this water? Should I buy salty shrimp sulawesi 7.5 and use it with R/O water?

I really want it to be simple so if I can use my tap water and they are good, that's all I care.

I have had my OEBT in this tap water for over a month without issues.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

SM

Wow, that's a fascinating shrimp! Good luck with them. Can't wait to see more once they arrive.

Steakman, I just traded off my granites. I wasn't having much luck with them and my whole interest is selective breeding to improve or mutate colors. The granites I had were transparent with red or green colors, so didn't fit my style.

I was using 8.5 salty shrimp. Good luck with them!

I guess that not having much luck with them meant producing no shrimplets?
Did they require anything specific beside the higher PH and temp?
Where did you get your salty shrimp 8.5?
I have problem finding them beside those Ebay sellers from over sea, which takes like 3-4 weeks to get here.
Thanks for wishing me luck. I think I need it ...

alphapro will have the salty shrimp http://www.alphaprobreeders.com/aqua...p-supplements/

I've had a few babies, but my survival rate was low. Evaporation I believe was a big part since water params change.

Thanks for the link for salty shrimp.
I guess your water evap. problems (params changed) must have caused by your choice of using nano tanks?
I read bunch of your posts and it seemed your preferred them over the larger ones.
I am using 20 gallon tanks for many sensitive shrimp species to reduce the amount of evaporation, specially when I put fans blowing across the water surface.
Hey, I am learning every single day, and the info from pro. like you will definitely save me ton of money and heartache.

heh well...I had a 30g tall for the granites and use mostly tenners, with the exception of a few 3 and 1.5.

I think these are just picky with water changes and TDS values.
