Can't trust many people these days

So I decided to trade some shrimp with someone who contact me online, not from this forum. Some tigers for some other tigers, we agreed on a # for a # and deal was done shipped Sat. I packed my 12 in the kordon breather bag and put it in a 7X7X6 flat rate usps box with a styro food container around it then a bunch of organic eco friendly insulation from lowes. Packed it good and tight sealed it up and shipped it. He shipped his sat too. I get his package a few min ago. Box is crushed to one side good, taped well. I open it as 2 very small cut styro strips on the bottom rest is just 3 crumbles of news paper. Then there it sits a heat pack right on the shrimp wrapping, they are wrapped in paper towels only..... As I unwrap them they are in none breather bags, just your standard LFS bags, and double bagged with maybe a 5th of the bag full of water. so they sloshed the whole ride. And low and behold shrimp were cooked due to the packing of a heat pack which I did not request. This time of year things are find, and they are tigers which are good in colder water. So I get them out and check water temp 80*, are you fing kidding me..... So looks like this guy does not know how to ship shrimp and I get to be the luck bastard to find this out. So I am pretty frustrated. I am sending him picks and explaining to him how to send shrimp and how not to.

Thought I would share so people understand why I love the forum and the sellers on it so much!

Yeah. I have to say just about everyone is trustworthy here! Especially when you can discuss growing methods, etc.

^I wish. Not everyone has an awesome club, especially one with shrimp keepers.

How I feel about non-planted aquariums.

There is a ton of debate and tests done by some people on kordon bags and that regular are just as good.
But the rest is sad, hope he ships something to replace or somehow makes it right.

You know people say the regular are fine, I have tested both with a friend I trade shrimp with in NY, he is a friend that moved out there. I can tell you out of 10 shipments of each that is un true. Kordons do way better, they ride better, they can be sealed down to the water level, un like the counter part you need a bunch of air in there. I have tested and I can say first hand your statement is bad info

Damn... I would've made sure he knew what he was doing before he shipped them. Sucks but he should do what's right. Hope he does. GL!

Im sorry to hear of your loss and sympathize. This is true for all livestock including plants... just because hobbyists have them in the tanks does not infer that they know how to ship. I encourage everyone to have a dialogue and understand the process and procedures as not to have any confusion in the transaction.

Because this was a swap, i wouldnt trust this fellow to ship back your shrimp unless you want the same demise to come to them... convert this to a sale transaction and have him pay for your shrimp.

+1 Being he shipped it in poor condition, and didn't even notify you, it would probably end the same for your tigers.
