Rili Shrimp in unstable temp

Hi

I have a "sort of"-walstad tank set up with rili shrimp and two amanos. It has no heater and the room is nomally around 22-24 degress in daytime, sinking to 19-20 during the night.

The tank on the other hand is up to 30 C when the sun is on it, which is between 10am - 3pm. I've red that people have kept breeding rili in 30C with no problems, but during the night the temp drops to around 24-25C. Seeing how temp rises and drops like this outdoors as well I figure its not a big deal.. or is it?

So 77F at night and 86F from 10-3pm? Are you able to shade or move the tank spot so no sun gets on it? That way it would be kept at ambient temp.

Cherries are great shrimp and can take a lot, but IMO that temp flux is asking an awful lot from them.

Yea, thats correct! Today the temp peaked at 32C (89F) so I'm definatly keeping it shaded. Its only early spring yet and I think as the summer creeps in it will get worse. I put a timer on a small heater to run during the night, and hopefully it will keep the tank around 27C day and night

I got three berried ones, I hope the eggs didnt get heat stroke

I think by keeping it shaded you are doing the correct thing.
