help setting up a ADA 30C for CBS/CRS
so im getting another 30C, and really want to finally get some caridinas to breed. i tried both crystals and tigers before, but they never bred for me, just died off one by one over 6 months.
but both times, i made a typical planted tank, and then went to add shrimp to it. now im gonna make the tank specifically for the shrimp.
so its gonna be low-light/no CO2. and instead of tap water, im gonna use RO/DI, and remineralize it. but there are so many choices out there for remineralization, which ones are the good ones youd reccomend?
for filtration, i know sponge filters probably the way to go, but could i perhaps just put a stainless steel strainer on a HOB intake, and maybe a sponge over that? i will use a sponge filter if i really need to, but i want the tank to also be displayable, and sponge filters are pretty ugly.
i was reccomended to use fluval shrimp stratum. thoughts on this? ive also heard of akadama being used.
i also want to use sand in the foreground, but im sure that wont be an issue.
however, im also thinking about putting aquasoil around any rootfeeding plants i have in there, is that acceptable?
