Observation on snails in a planted aquarium

you never know what you had till they're gone.

I literally ran out of snails (I know I know, how???) on all of my tanks (got 4 tanks)

now alot of them are overrun by algae, which wasn't really a problem before now . Since I changed pretty much nothing except got a 4 dwarf puffers for 1 tank, got some Antemone Helena for the 100 gal tank, and also put 2 in my apisto tank, I can safely assume that the reason for a explosion (especially hydras) is because of the lack of snails to eat them.

Can anyone confirm whether the common pond snails eat hydras? I distinctly remember (being in SE asia) that we have 2 common types of snails, the normal tadpole snail and the other one seems to possess a circular type of shell (although they're not MTS)

ps: don't try to kill all your snails, you'll miss them when they're gone!

I know from direct observation that the common pond snails that come in on plants definitely eat hydras. My tank was overrun with hydras but once i put snails in i barely see any, and if I do there's always a snail munching on it. Now I breed extras in a jar on a windowsill
