Well I'm not entirely new to keeping shrimp. I've kept RCS for a couple years now. Picked up some CBS over the weekend at a local society auction. How often do I need to do w/c?

I have them in my 10g with RCS and guppies. Thanks for any responses.

They need completely different water conditions than RCS do. ph of less than 7, kh of 0, Gh of 4-6, and extremely low nitrates.

That they do. What are your tank params?

As long as your tank is stable, worry about RO top offs.

Also, search threads here. We don't go a week without a thread like this so just scroll and scour.

Tell me about it.
I think someone here should start writing that guide/book.

Hint taken lol. It is on my list of things to begin planning. If I get a skeleton of the thing laid out, I'll let everybody know.

It shouldn't take long.

Water Change Scheme for Bee Shrimps: Change 0% to 100% every 1 to 100 days, this should work for 50% of the tanks.

Yes, I realized when I got home and started researching. That the two need completely different water conditions. I'm guessing they can't go to together then?

Usually I research the topic before I get something but it was the first time I seen shrimp at the auction besides cherries so I couldn't pass them up. I hate posting threads up like this because as you had stated this has been done a million times. If it wasn't finals weeks I would be researching this none stop but I figured I could make a thread and get a quick answer.

Depends on the parameters of your tank. If you're lucky your tank will be close enough to ideal conditions to where you won't have to worry.

What is the pH, GH, and KH?

My parameters were ph 7.2, nitrates were between 0-5, I don't have away to test kh or gh. Since the nitrates were between 0-5 I did a small w/c like 10%

PH of 7.2 usually means things are too high for them.

I guarantee the KH is over 4-7, and CRS need 0-1.

The TDS is likely high as well, so I bet your params are around 8 GH.

It is still worth testing. Also get yourself test kits + a TDS pen.

I'm new to crs and cbs too, but the tds and gh test kit are a really nice investment.
