Not sure. It's made from a resin so not sure if it would leach any bad stuff or not. I found a bunch of super cool rocks today so I am going to plop some in some RO water and let it sit a couple days to see if it mess with parameters, if not, I'll go collect a load of them and start setting up. STILL need to figure out my substrate. Does Eco-Complete change pH? I still need to make a batch of RO water so I can mix with tap and see if I can get stable water closer to pH 7.

Also, anyone know how much IAL drops pH?

Ah...ok. So it's not something you'd depend on to maintain a slightly lower pH. Gotcha!

Just ordered some Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+...I'm hoping that using RO water, letting it age then add the SaltyShrimp, I'll get a pH in the high 6's to 7 range. If so, that will be perfect.

Let me know if you can keep a stable PH.

Will do. With the Shrimp Mineral GH/KH+, it's supposed to raise KH half as much as the GH. So if I get GH up to 6 (minimum GH for tigers according to charts), KH will be 3. I'd image that is enough to maintain the pH, whatever it ends up being.

That brings up a question...I looked, admittedly not that hard, but what are the numbers to determine TDS based on KH/GH assuming I'm using RO water with values of 0?

That's pretty sweet. What the setup? Substrate in there or just the sponge? I have an AC50 that I might see of the motor will fit on the body, that way I could have even more capacity but lower flow. The motor on the 50 is shot or I'd just change out the impeller or cut down the impeller to lower flow.

from the bottom up it is

Stock sponge
Stock ceramic
Purigen pillow
Black sponge - kinda coarse, cut from a marineland canister refill. This is the top layer just to give the moss & plants something to 'root' in.

The spillway in the pic is that plastic craft mesh, but the ricca kept sliding off so I just today replaced it with stainless mesh.

Very nice. I just tried my AC30 motor on the AC50 body and it seems to work fine which is awesome.

Also, Eco-Complete came in today, so I might play around a little with the tank tonight.

And on another exciting note, I made a very easy decision on shrimp for the tank...Blue Diamond neos. I'm sure you've seen Speedies thread. That's definitely what is going in this tank along with some super tigers I'll be getting from MsJinkzd in a couple weeks. Can't wait!
