When I checked my tank, noticed a dead RCS. When I scooped it up,noticed it was pregnant(the last day i checked there was none). I decided to try artificial hatching for it. I wore a plastic glove and used a plastic spoon to "scoop" the eggs out of the mother's body. After I did this, I placed the eggs onto a plastic cup with water. With my past experience(which did not end up well, only 3 hatched out of the 10+ eggs), I think I need to change the method of keeping the eggs alive. Can anyone share their experience and method on how you manage to do artificial hatching successfully. Helps will be appreciated!
Some users here put the eggs in a net and put it under the filter output or put it above an air stone. You basically want the eggs to be aerated, that's why you see the females constantly fanning her eggs. Great job on hatching the 3 eggs =] . Was it hard getting the eggs out of the body?
