What is the popular opinion on having snails (specifically MTS and ramshorns) in a shrimp tank? The tank is a Taiwan bee tank so I know I will need to supplement calcium, I am just wondering if there is any true benefit to having them in the tank
I'm not a fan, as they can get out of hand. But if it is a TB tank I take it you will be completely on top of your feeding so it shouldn't be a problem. Assuming you have an active substrate (Amazonia, UP Aqua, etc) then I've read MTS isn't a good idea. They stir up the substrate all the time which is fine with gravel but not good with a shrimp substrate. I think Ramshorns would be better. Or maybe just get a nerite or two.
