PFRs dying!

What product do you recommend for remineralizing? I'll get some ordered today and switch this tank to RO ASAP.

Great choice. I use it for neos and I've never seen healthier shells.

A lot of people recommend different things. Shirakura Ca+ is my choice.

But I've seen people recommend Salty Bee shrimp and several other products. I would use the search function with remineralization products.

If money isn't an object, Ca+ is a great product that doesn't add unwanted junk. I personally purchased it because I only run nano tanks.

Any suggestion on a ratio of tap to RO?

Mix until your PH is about 7.

No problem. Be sure to make sure your TDS of the RO water before your 50% change, that way you can be sure you're doing it right

Alright, that was a learning experience. Sadly, PFRs lost their life due to my ignorance.

So 50% WC completed using RO, that was at 0 on my TDS meter, combined with tap water until a ph of 7 was reached. TDS of the mixture was sitting at 76.

Here are the current test results.

PH >7.2, <7.4 yes I know that leads to a result of 7.3 but since my test kits don't have a color for 7.3 I'm reporting what I know for certain.

Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate between 5.0 & 10.0
Phosphate 2ppm
Kh 2
TDS 328

I'm guessing I will want to do another partial WC in a few days to drop the TDS more??

I don't see any shrimp, but I know I haven't pulled out anywhere near 40 dead ones. So hopefully they are just hiding in they plants.

Keep those TDS around 300, but they're OK up to 400.

Great work. This will turn into a success story cause you took action so congrats. Hopefully you have a male and a female to repopulate.

The params look good now, and nice work at getting the TDS down quick.

A huge thank you is owed to y'all for all of the help! So, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO STEPPED UP AND HELPED ME OUT!!!

This tank is going to be remineralized RO from now on. I got two 5gallon jugs for $8.99 a pop today, and the refills are $3.00 each. It really isn't that bad. I've already sent off a message to Mordalphus about some of the CA+.

PFRs dying!

Happy to help just glad I saw your param post.

There are others who sell Ca+, so if Mord is out, give me a holler. But he's a great source to go to .

Come to think of that dang that's expensive RO water...

OH do you mean 3.00 for 10 gals?

I get mine for 37 a gallon.

Nope, 3.00 for 5 gallons @ the LFS, of course this is the same place that charges $2.99-10.99 each for red cherry shrimp depending on color and that doesn't even get as red as PFRs.

I'm going to check around to see if I can find a different source.

I sent Mord a PM bc I found a sales thread not long ago. I will look around for others if I can get CA+ through him.

Thanks again for the help.
