I'll be getting my first pair of CPO in a few days, and I've been doing lots of research but I have a number of inquiries that are still unanswered in my search.
These will be my first invertebrates, and also the first time I'm trying a planted tank. I thinking if it was just one of these I wouldn't have so many concerns.
I have my tank set up, it has been cycling a few days with a number of Amazon Swords. They seem to be doing fine atm, but there are no critters in the tank either. The chemical that came with my planted tank to help the plants a long contains copper, since this is going to be an invert tank I haven't used it.
Is there any sort of fertilizer or any other chemical that is invertebrate safe which I can use? Or would I just be best off waiting until I have some critters in there and let things progress naturally.
My other concerns are pretty much with the size of the tank and what I can get in there. I'm not planning to overstock it by any means but I'm getting so many varied opinions that I felt it was best to ask. This is the smallest tank I've ever dealt with at 30 L.
My initial plan was to have 2 CPO, 6 to 8 tetras, and a number of different plants. However it seems ever other person I talk to seems to tell me that's way too much. Any comments on this issue would be great.
That's pretty much the max I'm comfortable putting in the tank, although there are those suggesting I should also get a beta or one larger fish. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
All in all I'm most concerned for the CPOs, I got this tank for them, and they are the show piece (and my favourite
) - I'd rather not crowd them or get any sort of fish that would stress them out.
So I'm hoping to hear some suggests from others and maybe let more experienced opinions guide the direction this tank is heading in.
