Purigen vs. Carbon for shrimp only tank
I researched about purigen and carbon. The only advantage Purigen has over Carbon that it can be recycle/recharge. Carbon will end it life once it's being used up.
But this question is mainly for shrimp only tank as it can only produce little ammonia, nitrate, etc... Will it make a big different if I use Purigen over Carbon. Since the Purigen usually cost 3x more than Carbon.
The method of recharging Purigen can be a hassle and dangerous if not done correctly and potentially threaten to the tank.
Seachem Purigen 250ml: Pet Supplies
Marineland PA0391 Diamond Blend Activated Carbon/Ammonia Neutralizing Crystals, 23-Ounce, 652-Gram: Pet Supplies
For the math 23 ounce of Carbon = 680 ml and for only $9.12
250 ml of Purigen is $13.03.
Cost efficiency vs product usefulness???
