Shrimp lumberjacks!

I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or if the shrimp decide to take up a new career but my corkscrew Val's seem to being picked off

its just eating the dieing leaves. i notived my vals would do this when they were not happy be it water to warm or not enough light

My cherry shrimp also did this to some Vals when I first planted them. Luckily, the Vals bounced back and they spread all over the tank.

Do Val's need high light or are they one job low to medium lighting?
