Does anyone have a link to a comprehensive list of safe tank-mates for dwarf shrimp? All of what I find are forum posted testimonials from owners on particular species they keep themselves, and nothing conclusive or authoritative.
I'm not sure there is a definitive list. Many people keep small fish with their shrimp with no problem, while other people with the same fish have their fish eat the shrimp. I think everyone agrees that Otocinclus are perfectly safe, and I've never heard of any problems with pygmy corydoras either.
Before I started shrimp keeping I saw a video on YouTube of cherries living in peace with Celestial Pearl Danio. I love both critters so set up my hex with them.
I see frequent berried shrimp (there are also some chocolates, Malawa and a few crystals in the tank) but I never see shrimplets, despite the fact that the tank is literally crammed full of guppy grass.
There are some juvenile CPDs, though.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the CPDs are very fat.
+1 on it being impossible to give a definitive listing.
There are just too many variables. Size of tank, quality/quantity of cover for the shrimp, stocking densities, even feeding schedules. And, even aside from the question of being eaten, shrimp colonies can be depleted from the stress of being hunted--begging the very question of what constitutes 'safe'.
