I've not yet seen anyone here talk about freshwater clams.
Does anybody have them? My LFS has a couple in their plant tank, something like $5/per with 3/$15, iirc. I don't think anybody on the forum has talked about them before, though; is there a reason for that? Are they notoriously finicky? Detrimental to [fish/shrimp/plants/etc]?
"Aquariums are like science, art, and hypno-therapy, all rolled into one," I insisted.
"You're not putting a hundred gallon tank in the living room," my roommate replied.
They need a small planktonic food injected near their siphon, which is difficult to find when they're buried in your substrate. Then of course they starve to death and create an ungodly amount of ammonia and bacteria effectively destroying your tank.
Other than that, they're boring because they do nothing and serve no practical purpose in an aquarium.
