Why are my Amano shrimp growing all of a sudden?

More out of curiosity rather than having a problem, but why have my Amano shrimp suddenly exploded in growth?

So I've owned 3 Amano shrimp for a little over a year. They were all pretty small at about an inch. I was never worried because they molted regularly and ate well. I figured maybe they were all males and males stayed significantly smaller than the huge ones I was used to seeing at the stores. (I also owned one very large one for about a day when it crawled out of the tank overnight...) Well recently all the shrimp are starting to grow rapidly! They aren't quite as big as some I've seen, but they are easily twice the size they've been all year.

My question is: what am I suddenly doing right? lol Or do they they just mature very slowly? The only recent change has been that I replaced the eco complete with black sand and I added 5 cherry shrimp.

Tank stats:
0A 0N 0N
17g Mr Aqua
Aquaclear 20 HOB filter
SunSun 20 canister filter
Heater, 50W
black sand, seiryu stone, driftwood, anubias, marimo algae, java fern
fauna: rummy nose tetras, amano shrimp, cherry shrimp

They have a natural supply of algae, hikari algae wafers, and whatever the fish are eating that day. Nothing has changed recently with their feeding.

Very interesting. Maybe you didn't notice it? I have amano shrimp I raised from larvae and after they reach about .75" in size you really notice their growth. I assume they grow at the same percentage rate but because they are objectively bigger it looks like their growth has accelerated.

Not sure why they might be growing all of a sudden. Only recently got into amanos, and have 3. Two females of different sizes (close in size, but one is obviously somewhat larger than the other), and one male. Can't really say I've noticed any suddenly growing, but then again, they were pretty adult sized when purchased.

Yukiharu, do you have notes anywhere of raising the amanos?
