Toronto aquatic sights

Hi everyone,

I will be spending a couple of days in Toronto this summer and I was wondering if there are any LFS worth the detour? Or maybe some of other type of place to visit like some aquariums or some crazy store in chinetown ?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Hey Vin,

Not sure as I've never had the chance to visit any of the GTA stores but, I hear the Menagerie is quite good!

Perhaps give them a shot! And Aqua Inspiration looks like a pretty cool store, as well.

Menagerie. They have a website too. They are on Parliment street, East of Downtown Toronto. They have the rarest plants there. Def. worth a look.

Menagerie is my favorite place to get fish in TO, but it is indeed a small fish section. There is Aqua Inspirations further up in North TO, which I ahve never been to but I hear is quite the place for high end aquarium stuff and nice fishies. Also, if you are into shrimp, there is a couple of nice stores specializing in them (Shrimp Fever, and I belive Kim's Aquariums).

There is a website GTA aquaria which has a full list of stores.

Hello everyone !

Yeah the timing sucks for the RIpley's aquarium but I don't have much choice

So from what I understand Menagerie is probably just a petstore with the occasional rare plant or fish order? Probably not worth going to since I am not planning on buying anything.

Aqua inspiration looks like it might be worth the detour to see some nice aquascapes in the flesh.

Thanks for your suggestions! More are always welcomed.

Menagerie has a really nice bird section and lizards and snakes. They have 2 huge macaws and iguanas (not 100% is its that, its a lizard thats for sure).

I will also check out Shrimp Fever. A shrimp only shop seems interesting.

For some reason my instincts told me there would be some hidden mystery shop in Chinatown but maybe thats just my fantasy !
