Found more plants in the River

I have now found four different types of plants growing in the Ohio River out in front of my house. Here are the two newest ones. Any ideas of what they could be?

The one in the middle.

I'm not an ID expert, but here's my best guess.

1. Parrot's Feather - Myriophyllum sp.?
2. Looks very similar to Najas sp.

I added them both to a 29 and they both started pearling, but that second one.... WOW it really was pearling. I have never seen anything like it.

Yeah, I think scuds would be super common

It is better to travel well than to arrive.

I have not in the past and I have never had a problem, but there is a first time for everything. I do remove all the dirt from the roots and wash the plants very well.

How exciting that you found all of those nice plants in the Ohio River! We live an hour from Parkersburg. I looked in my pond on our property and have not found anything special yet. The water at the edge is very unclear. The plant in your first picture does look like a myriophyllum. It's nice to know that we have a number of aquatic plants growing in our region.

Be careful! There are some places around here with gill flukes that get brought home occasionally. At least a bleach dip or something?

Nice finds though. Its always cool to have a plant you collected!

Thank you for the warnings guys. I probably will start dipping my plants from now on.

Water7. If you are ever in the area and want to get wet let me know and we will go on a little boat ride.

Thank you for offering. I did manage to find some anacharis or elodea in my pond this week. I was very excited to be able to find something growing in the wild.

That's pretty awesome! I'd love to go find plants out in the river, but the Mon River scares me :P Might have to make a little trip to the Ohio River!
