I found this on the side of the road to be picked up for garbage! The ONLY thing I see wrong with it, is that it's FILTHY! The smell says stagnant water from a swamp, and makes me want to throw up

Should I try to get it going with bleach, or whatever you guys suggest??? I REALLY want to

It's almost 2ft tall I think...

Thanks!

Hey, the tank was free and bleach is cheap. What have you got to lose? Give it a shot!

Good point! I think I'm going to bleach it once before anything else so I can just stand to get close to it LOL!

Also, I'll start a journal post in photo album and post pictures of my progress.

Hmm... I would stay away from bleach... try getting just CHLORINE... bleach tends to be hard to get rid of once it leaches into something. ( something im finding out now since i Bleached my driftwood)

ALso make double and even tripple sure you check the seals... inspect them and fill it up with water to sit for a week or so...they may be old and need repair or replacement.

However, I would use that tank!!! FREE IS FREE....!!!!
Throw the plants away *smirk*...

Help control the pet population...spay or neuter people won't spay or neuter their dogs or cats!

There really isn't anything for the bleach to leach into in the tank, it should be fine and a little less hazardous to your health than using chlorine.

ummm...I definitely don't think you want to use raw chlorine. just get some bleach, dilute it with water, 10:1 ratio.

Errr, he doesn't look like he's long dead... you don't suppose he was still alive in there when it went to the curb...?

he COULD have been... I bleached as soon as it got home, so... make your own conclusions.

Also, I found a pair of kids' glasses in there! Amazing how dumb these people were. I found parts of other rotten fish too.

 i don't really care what these people may have thought... a pet is a pet. a living creature. find out how to take care of it, and if you can't/ won't, give the damn thing away to someone who has the brains/ time. poor little fella... but at least now they don't have the tank anymore. good luck with it cich, hope it doesn't leak. the fact that the fish was still in the tank suggests it may not be a leaker.
