New to planted tanks, looking for advice.
So, the tank is a clearseal 48x15x12
(dull I know, I got it on the very cheap)
The lid is a modified 36" clearseal lid to fit, because I am a crafty cheapskate.
The plan? Unsure. I was thinking of generally having a java fern forest, featuring a carpet plant.
Stocking, probably something simple like a handful of Apistogramma and a dither species. Nothing big and flashy.
What I need to know:
Are there any relatively undemanding carpet plants?
Is a single t8 bulb enough, will I need a second t8 tube, or upgrade to a double t5 setup?
Will I need to dose Co2 and Ferts? (If I do i'll go with TNC carbon + ferts)
Will I need an additional plant-based substrate.
Am I being a silly cheapskate? Or do I really need to throw some superbucks at this to get what I want.
As it stands now the tank has sand as a substrate, and has 2 reasonable sized java fern and an anubias nana, and is baby sitting 8 small odessa barb as I grow them out.
