The guy I spoke to said the sale was going until the 21st, so plenty of time to call your closet Petco and have them special order you whichever tank size you prefer. Even if they don't normally carry that tank size they will special order you one and call when it comes in.
Right, I'm familiar with the dollar per gallon events; I was meaning more so how close this one was to the last (ended late July?). I should've clarified that this was the explanation he gave as to why they were so close.
Either way, couldn't find anything online in regard to an Aqueon - Tetra merger/buyout.
Went to three Petco locations this evening looking for a specific size tank. Only could find it in the Tetra brand, and I wanted Aqueon. Talked to different associates and managers at three stores (here in Denver) and they all informed me that Petco was no longer ordering new aqueon tanks- they were only carrying Tetra as their standard glass aquarium selection now. Anyone who knew what they were talking about seemed really bummed about the change.
So, if you're wanting to get an aqueon while the supply lasts at Petco, act now!
PS. I know many will disagree with what I'm saying since there is no solid evidence of merger/buyout/etc. This is only my relay of testament from several Petco employees in the Denver metro area.

I didn't even realize when I was buying mine that it was a Tetra. I'm going to try to swap mine at another local Petco and get an Aqueon. The Tetra seems like an OK tank but the top rim is really wide. I'd prefer the narrower Aqueon rim.
