Got my new......

Went to San Diego for the $ per gallon sale at Petco and got a new 40 gallon breeder! I was stoked because it's originally $115. No pics yet but man I'm loving the dimensions. I wonder if I can de-rim it...Oh such a quandary!

What are the dims on it? I wouldn't derim a tank over 20 gallon unless it shallow.

I believe it's 36x18x18. I'll take your advice about derimming.

No brace on it. Just the black rim all the way around

Well if there's no brace then it shouldn't be a problem. They black trim doesn't offer any structural support. I would just be ready to make a DIY brace just in case it bows.

Now I'm interested, how would you derim it?

Pretty easy really. I use a putty knife to get under the rim and use my fingers to slowly break the silicone seal.at that point you can either break the trip or save it in case you want to remount it. Use a blade to cut the silicone on the inside then slowly pull it off and done.
