No power for 7 hours. I hope my tank buddies survive.

What's 7 hours without power gonna do without any oxygen exchange going on?

The fish will swirl the water at the surface if it starts getting a bit low. Remove any floaters, open lids and you can take a cup and scoop and pour water to agitate the surface if you want.

You can always do small water changes to control temps and add oxygen.

I have a battery powered air pump for this sort of time, runs on 2 D's (or c's, not sure) They sell them at the petco/petsmarts I think.

There is also a relay driven version to come on automatically if the wall power fails

Tap is not highly aerated. It often comes loaded with lots of dissolved nitrogen, not o2

Get a large container, fill with tank water and place above the tank then set up a slow drip with a knotted airline and some clothespins/clamps so the water constantly has a bit of a ripple on it for oxygen exchange. If you use the tank water then if the container empties the tank won't overflow!
