Diffuser under intake

My diffuser is located under the intake of my HOB filter - I thought the impeller would help break up bubbles and better distribute the CO2 to the whole tank. I have charcoal in my filter...that doesn't affect the CO2 does it?

I think charcoal is not needed for planted tank.
A healthy plant growth = balance of light, CO2 and fertilizer; the charcoal will absorb fertilizer you add as well

I took out all my charcoal and filled the space left with media, haven't noticed any difference in water quality or clarity. One less thing to buy.

I do run purigen though, just no carbon. Regen the purigen every few months, probably not often enough - which tells me it probably isn't really needed either
