Arrow Longest bout with ICH in planted tank history

Seriously ridiculously long battle here with ICH!!! I caught it really fast on rummynose tetra I purchased. Started raising temp up as high as 86 degrees treating with salt. This was a huge mistake; even at 1 teaspon per gallon it leveled many of my plants. Jungle Val, blood star grass, and ludwigia was really devastated. Others werenít as bad. Stopped the salt and went with an herbal ich attack because I also have shrimp and nertites. Over month later I've said the hell with it and went with the strong stuff. It's been over week since that and still battling. It hasn't spread to other species of fish, and I've only lost about 7 cardinals (probably from the stress), but still havenít beat this bug

Been real agressive with daily 50-80% water changes last couple weeks too.

Over 3 months I think. I still havent killed any shrimp or snails. No carbon or anything in the canister.

Maybe it's not ich?

I've had what many people told me was ich on my neons. Turned out to be a fungus.

In the future just use Clout and be done with it.
Can be tough in delicate fish though.

Unless your shrimp are sensitive Seachem's Paraguard will work as well. Try adding a half dose first and then if no one shows signs of stress add in another quarter and then the final quarter about an hour apart. If everyone is good for the full amount then keep up the dosing for two weeks while keeping an eye on everyone to make sure they don't stress with it.

I've also read of people using Paraguard for bacterial infections in shrimp successfully.

There is a variety of Ich that is resistant to heat and to just about all the Ich meds commonly available. It will take some serious searching to find it, but lets see what I can do.

Here is a link, scroll through it. The several strains of Ich are mentioned, then there is a link in there to the most resistant one.

Here is the medicine for these resistant strains of ich:
