Just Getting Started

I have a 90 gal fish only. And I want to start a new tank. I had a reef tank for about 10 years. It has been gone for about 4 years. And I want to start a planted tank. My wife got me a 18D''x20L''x24''tall I am thinking about a Current Nova Extreme Pro 20 inch T5 Fixture 6x18W It is the only thing that I found that I can run 2 lights 4 lights or all 6 lights. there are others that run 2 lights and 4 light Fixtures. I will have to change out the lights for freshwater.
Would this be too much light? it would be 108 watts of total of T5HO when all 6 are on then the the next thing is co2 I've all ready got the tanks I was thinking of Deluxe Automatic CO2 Injection System.
The next thing is cycling and new tank syndrome. With a saltwater tank I was fighting Hair Algae and Cyanobacteria untill I made a refugium. Is there thing like that with planted tanks if so what causes it to happen and what is the cure?
