I've got 148 acres behind my house, it's where I've gotten all of my rocks!

What all did you find?

For outcrops like that, you could check a geologic map - it shows where the various bedrock formations surface, and from that you can tell what rocks/minerals you are likely to find on a given hill.

It doesn't work so well for IDing loose stuff in stream beds, or imported fill, stuff on the beach, etc., but should be fairly reliable for in-situ bedrock.

Thanks! I would never pay for rocks, maybe driftwood.
