Making slits in glass

Going with my previous filter idea however i need to make a "grate" in the glass... Thinking i will have to drill multiple holes, however dremel has a 360 degree bit that says you can rasp larger holes, would it work to create the below?

I don't think you're going to be able to make that without busting the glass.

If you're dead set on making it out of glass rather than acrylic (i don't know why you would), make a mock up out of acrylic and make sure the holes are enough for the flow that you are planning on. Even just doing holes, you're still likely to break it.

Mostly just hadn't looked at using plastic in the tank, guess silicone would adhere well enough to acrylic to do an internal filter box.

Think it would break just drilling holes?
