Not to the best of my knowledge. If you haven't already, check out dfwfishbox.com. There's only a couple of us (as far as I'm aware) that far north, but it's a good group of "relatively" local people. There's a good planted tank group I got involved with for a while, but the meetings were still a hike for me and I just kinda fizzled out on going. The only other groups I'm aware of are saltwater or cichlids, and again, they're more oriented in the DFW area.

The owners of Water World Aquariums have decided to shut down/sell the shop... a bit upset as they gave me no notice to find a new job. As far as I know they will be closed.

Sorry to hear that a local store is closing, and even worse that someone is loosing a job. Have you checked to see if Darby's Tropicals is hiring? They where looking for maintenance help a while back.

The Dallas Fort Worth Aquatic Plant club seems to be picking up again. It looks like they have had meetings for the last several months. As well as planing more events. It is a nice group of people.

Not trying to be picky but it would be more useful if it was sorted by city rather than alphabetically by store. Great list though! Let's make it even longer!

No problem Disher. I have actually posted it both ways in the past. I have gone to just posting it alpha by store name, since whoever has the file can sort it anyway they want.

Where the sort option is depends on which version of Excel you use. For the most recent version of Excel:

Open the file

Highlight all the cells of the file (you can do this by clicking on the tiny cell at the top most left corner of the document. Above the #1 cell and to the left of the A column)

then locate the option at the top of the page that says sort and filter

once you click on Sort and Filter click on custom sort

then choose whichever column you want to sort by, name, city, phone# etc

I think in the future I will go back to sorting it by city by default, and I have attached a zipped copy of the file sorted by city.

Aquarium World , Houston TX

Its huge and pretty impressive. Large freshwater and saltwater selection (along with small selection of plants). I was impressed when I found some rummynose tetras and some Brigettae (sp?).

You might want to take BB fish and pets off the list. Went there yesterday for the first time and I'm pretty sure its a front for some other type of activity (also no plants, and everything is always wrapped up like they're moving or suspiciously shipping stuff).

I'm making the rounds to buy my livestock for a 150 in Houston in about a month. The good folks at the Houston Fish Box Forum are helping me compile a list so that I can make a one day run since I'm an hour + South of Houston on the coast.

Once I make the run I'll post a quick review and you can add the good stores to your list.
