Memfish is a little aquarium store (with some nice tanks) in East Memphis/G'town area. When they first opened they had a lot of plants and a couple of nice display tanks. Unfortunately they fell to the scourge that takes many of us in the early days and were dismantled.
Despite a slightly decreasing freshwater selection they have Excel and look like they are venturing back into the planted tank world. It looks like they set up a couple of planted display tanks recently. It may be worth stopping by to add an atta-boy to their register. They don't really have plants to speak of right now, but I think there's at least one employee who keeps Planted tanks.
I just thought I'd offer an overly verbose heads up.
I became a customer of theirs in November. I stop by 1-2 times a week for RO water.
I couldn't be happier with them.
As for the plants, I overheard the staff complaining about the quality of the plants they were getting from their supplier. I found that pretty assuring and took it as that they care about what they sale.
They have 2 new planted displays up. I think the main is a 90 gallon Discus tank. Nothing mine-blowing but they are always working on it when I come in. The other is a new huge vivarium.
They are haveing problems with their plant suppliers.I have delt with Richard and lisa for a few years now.He is the one who helped me out when I had problems with saltwater tanks.I am new at the planted tank set-up.I will be stopping in there next week to pick up supplies.I live approx a 110 miles from there.
Amy is the plant person there and she is ordering more and a better variety of plants. Still just a shadow of the corals, but better than the local big-box store. I was just there yesterday and they had a new order including some HC.
I go there for alot of my supplies. Their prices and Products are very good. I have bought part of my plants from there as well. They carry plants that the others do not carry. Elisabeth from petsmart is now with them as well. She knows both fresh and salt water.
memfish is awesome!! first place that i actually found pygmy corys at. and they have a really goo plant selection now, some of the most lush java ferns. hopefully they'll get some more pygmys in soon i accidentally bought 3 habrosus and a pygmy so im hoping theyll let me trade the pygmy for another habrosus.
